Hotels & Leisure Property

In the last few years I have been involved in a number of transactions on behalf of a major European hotel group. I have also acted for landlords in hotel lettings. I have advised hotel operators on a range of planning issues and conducted objections to compulsory purchase: see example in Experience: Planning and Related Works. In the wider leisure sector, when I was involved in advising the owners of rural estates I dealt with many kinds of leisure transactions including the leases of golf clubs, sporting rights etc. In more recent years, I have advised the City Parochial Foundation in connection with the playing fields it owns around London.

Example:

Advising both the City Parochial Foundation (as landlord) and Bellingham Community Project Limited (as tenant) in connection with the development of the Bellingham Healthy Living Centre. This involved devising an appropriate legal structure for what is a unique collaboration between a grant making charity and local interests to provide recreation and other facilities for disadvantaged people in this area of south east London. I also advised on a variety of aspects arising throughout the development period and in connection with the operation of the Centre. Most recently, I have dealt with the grant to the London Borough of Lewisham of an underlease of a part of the site for the creation of a Youth Gateway Centre.
