Raymond Cooper - Property Lawyer

Investment Property

I have dealt with a large number of investment sales and acquisitions, many of a complex nature.

Examples:

From 1985 until the company was sold by its owners to a quoted company in 2000, I and my team were sole providers of legal services to a private property investment group. This involved handling the acquisition and disposal of a large range of properties within different market sectors throughout the UK.

Since its launch in 2000, Farrers has been the sole legal advisor to the Charities Property Fund. The Fund is a joint venture between Rensburg Sheppards and Cordea Savills. Farrers helped conceive the idea and advised in relation to the Fund's formation. The Fund is a Common Investment Vehicle set up to enable charities, without losing tax relief, to invest in property whilst achieving a higher level of liquidity than direct investment would allow and was the first of its kind. By March 2007, the fund had acquired 44 properties valued at in excess of £380m. The fund manager is Rensburg Sheppards and the property manager is Cordea Savills.

I have advised many private investors, including Middle Eastern interests in connection with UK real estate investments, in many cases seeking the right opportunity as well as dealing with the acquisition and being responsible for ongoing management arrangements.
