Landlord and Tenant
I have, over the years, dealt with virtually
every aspect of landlord and tenant work which affects commercial
(and, in some cases, residential) property. In particular, I have
detailed knowledge of the legislation affecting business tenants
– the Landlord and Tenant Acts 1927 and 1954. I have dealt
with contested and uncontested lease renewal applications for both
landlords and tenants. I have drafted forms of lease and ancillary
documents for every sector and occasion. I have handled disputes
involving service charges and most counts of breach of obligation.
Service charges have been a particular speciality: I drafted the
precedents in the original precedents section of Hill & Redman's
Law of Landlord and Tenant. These precedents and the detailed commentary
which accompanied them were well reviewed and regarded. I have,
on behalf of both landlords and tenants, dealt with many dilapidations
claims and disputes.
